Our Team
-

Kelsey Banaszynski, she/her/hers Executive Director
Kelsey started running ultras in 2016 after moving to Colorado and finding out that you don’t have to actually run up the mountains. It didn’t take long before she found herself immersed in the trail community and directing races herself.
She’s passionate about empowering women to take on new adventures and making sure everyone gets the same opportunity as the person next to them.
-
Megan Buhnerkemper, she/her/hers Communications Director
Though originally from the Midwest, Meg has always been a mountain gal at heart — and pinches herself every time she gets to run out her front door to the Sawatch trails she now calls home.
She cares deeply about empowering women to feel confident on the trails, as well as breaking down the stigma that you have to be fast to be a runner. She believes there's no better way to make friends than spending time on the trails together — and that glitter is an essential part of any race day kit.
-

Sara Shoff, Director of Operations
Sara used to define herself as entirely coastal - never farther than an hour or so drive from running on an ocean bluff. But since 2020 she’s traded her road shoes, city running, and flat views for the mountain west - mostly.
While she still doesn’t really like running uphill, Sara loves her Salida community and is eager to grow that community through her role with Women of the Sawatch.
-

Candace Bryans, Director of Grants and Finance
Candace Bryans is an ultrarunner, soccer player, and backcountry skier who believes the outdoors should be accessible, practical, and welcoming, not intimidating or exclusive. She spends her time on long trails, steep climbs, and early mornings, and cares deeply about creating real connections and opportunities for women to get outside, especially in the backcountry.
Candace serves as the County Manager for Lake County, Colorado, and brings a strong background in finance, operations, and organizational leadership. As Director of Grants and Finance for Women of the Sawatch, she focuses on building the systems, funding, and partnerships that help more women show up, get out, and keep coming back, whether that’s running, skiing, or exploring new terrain with confidence.
-

Imogen Ainsworth, Director of Community Outreach and Events
After growing up in London, Imogen found her way to the U.S. by way of the University of New Mexico track and cross country teams. After graduation, she started exploring the trails and hasn’t looked back since. These days, she lives in Poncha Springs and spends as much time as possible outside with good people and good dogs.
While Imogen firmly believes that six miles is the perfect distance for a run, she’s recently dipped a toe into significantly longer distances, from 100k to 100 miles. Running has had a huge and positive impact on her life, and she’s passionate about helping create spaces where more women feel at home on the trails. When not out running, hiking, or biking, Imogen works as a sustainability consultant with mountain towns and ski areas.

Rachel Entrekin, Director of Community Outreach and Events
Rachel Entrekin is an ultra runner who enjoys very, very long days, regardless of the terrain underfoot. Born in Alabama and educated as a Physical Therapist, she has since both enjoyed and endured living in Birmingham, Seattle and Los Angeles before moving to Colorado in 2024. She lives with her two wonderful cats that she does not deserve.
